After graduating with a Law Degree from Cambridge University (where he also gained Blues for both soccer and cricket) Richard was articled in Central London and was a member of the private client department of one of the City of London's largest firms prior to joining Horwood and James in 1981. Richard became a partner with the firm in 1984 and became the senior partner in 2010. Richard also heads the Probate and Trust Department. He has considerable experience in, and has lectured to various organisations on, not only the administration of estates and trusts (including those involving private company shares, partnership interests and/or agricultural property), but also Will drafting, Powers of Attorney, Trusts for the Disabled and Estate Planning with particular reference to the mitigation of Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax.
